A Hobbit Birthday Party

Hello friends! On a whim, I have decided to have a bit of a Hobbit Birthday Party for myself here on the blog. Nothing super fancy or exciting… this IS rather last-minute of me, after all. But I thought to myself… when all these tired NaNoWriMoers are done with November, they are going to need something to relax with for a bit. And, since today is my birthday, and Hobbits are in the habit (heheh, hobbits in the habit) of giving AWAY gifts on their birthdays, I thought… AHA, PERFECT! Now, unfortunately I cannot afford to give ALL of you a present, so you’re going to have to fight for it a bit.

It will be very good for you… and most amusing for me...”

To one of you lovely readers, I will be giving away a shiny new paperback copy of Five Enchanted Roses! Just the thing to curl up with for some December reading, no?

Rediscover the Enchantment!

A ship bearing the souls of sinful sailors drifts upon a ghostly sea. An abbey looms as the final defense between mortals and ghouls of the underworld. In the stillness of a throne room, statues stand forever frozen in a moment of terror. Monsters and men stalk their prey deep in the jungle’s shadows. A rose blooms in the dead of winter, sheltered in the ruins of an ancient Scottish castle. And only true love can free the Beast from his prison.

The giveaway will run through the end of November, which is coming up pretty fast… so get your entries in today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ^_^ I hope you have an amazing one, friend! Hobbit birthdays are the best, and I loved your quote. XD I think it’s awesome you’re doing this! I don’t think I’ll enter since I’ve read it and want somebody else to get a chance to read your awesome story *huggles it* but I’ll go share about it! :D Have a lovely and Hobbity day! <3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENELLE!!!! <3

My favorite fairytale retelling? Oh my word, I can't possibly choose! *gasps* But I DID read Snow in Summer by Jane Yolen a few months ago (it's a Snow White retelling), and my, it was wonderful! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May you have many, many more to come!

My favorite fairy tale retelling is Entwined by Heather Dixon. Creepiness, beauty, dashing (and not-so-dashing) suitors, wonderful sibling relationships, a well-developing father/daughter relationship, a hint of steampunk, and love of all kinds, all put together in a retelling of one of my favorite fairy tales . . . what more could I ask for?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENELLE! I hope you have an amazing, amazing day! You deserve it <3

Favorite fairytale retelling? Whoo, boy … well, one of them is Entwined by Heather Dixon, but I also LOOOOVE the entire Lunar Chronicles series. Don't ever make me chose xD.

I keep hearing about Entwined, I definitely need to get my hands on a copy. Oh, yes, the Lunar Chronicles are AMAZING!!!! I wouldn’t ask you to choose! “Favorite” to me is almost never singular LOL

Happy birthday!

My favorite retelling would have to be Ella Enchanted, as it helped me through a difficult part of my childhood – and its twist was generally brilliant.

I am a day late! BUT HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR JENELLE!!!! I hope your day was as happy as a hobbit celebration! (Just maybe without disappearing people and evil rings to rule them all?)

I already have a copy of Five Enchanted Roses, so I’ll refrain from entering the giveaway, but I think it’s the sweetest you’re giving away something on your birthday. ^_^

Thanks, Christine!

Disappearing people and evil rings do tend to make birthdays more interesting… if not more pleasant… but I did have a lovely birthday without all that. It was kind of a quiet day, but I got to go see Justice League a few days later, so that was super fun!

Happy Birthday Jenelle! And may you have many, many more!! I feel a little bad because I don’t have a mathom to bring to the party . . . but as for favorite fairy tale retelling, I’d say Ella Enchanted or the Princess Tales, both by Gail Carson Levine. She holds a very special place in my heart, as she inspired a lot of my early attempts at writing.

Can’t get the T&Cs link to open, which isn’t terribly helpful as it means I don’t know whether this giveaway is open internationally or not.

Anyways, belated Hippo Bathday 2 Ewes.

One of my fave fairy tale retellings is ‘Fawn Brown’ by Zoe McAuley.

The giveaway is open to international entries, for sure! I’m sorry you couldn’t see the T&C. I went into Rafflecopter and tried to fix it… I’m not sure I did it right…

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

Ooh, I have not heard of that one, I will have to look it up! Thanks for the recommendation!

Happy Birthday and Stay Fabulous.

My favorite retelling of the moment is the series called The Perrault Chronicles by Cordelia Castel

Thanks so much! I fully intend to… hahaha!

I have heard of those before, but I have not gotten around to reading them. I have a TBR pile about the height of Everest, but I shall definitely add those to the stack!

Fawn Brown is very intriguing.

And thank you for letting me know that the giveaway is international!

Happy birthday!!! Albeit a little late. That said, don’t Hobbits celebrate for a week or something? Or at least have a second birthday, you know? :-P

Favorite retelling….I don’t think I’ve read any fairy tale retellings. Unless Kyle Robert Shultz’s Beaumont and Beasley series counts? I LOVE The Beast of Talesend. It’s kind of mash up of all kinds of fairy tales.

We’ve had ONE birthday, yes… but what about second birthdays? Middling birthdays? Afternoon-tea-party-birthdays? ;)

I loved the Beast of Talesend, as well! So entertaining and funny. (And yes, his books totally count as retellings)

Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you, as well! I tend to be a bit of a hermit on Black Friday, as I don’t enjoy shopping even at normal times…. but I will accept any and all sales of my books as my sole contribution to the shopping frenzy… :) :) :) hahaha
