Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed
Easter is my favorite holiday.Which might seem weird, to those who know how much I love Christmas, and Thanksgiving, and Fall, and Winter, and November... and how little I look forward to summers on a regular basis... but as each year passes, I find that Easter is the holiday I love the most.Easter is always a special time of year for me. It is such a symbolic time of hope and renewal, and I just love everything about it. I think some of the reason I enjoy it so much is because there seems to be less commercialization. (not that I'm anti- presents by any stretch of the imagination!) I mean, yeah, there's candy and bunnies and flowers and stuff at every supermarket and Wal-Mart and Target, etc, etc... but in my mind none of that ever seemed to encroach much on Easter since all that stuff is very springy and could easily be merely representative of the season of Spring. I know the corporations try really hard to pass it off as "Easter" decor, but I never think of it like that.
Easter is special, a time for reflection, forgiveness, it's really such a tiny little holiday compared to Christmas, but shouldn't it really be the one we focus on? Yes, Christmas is special, it has a lot of meaning, but Christmas would really mean nothing if it weren't for what we celebrate over Easter weekend. Christ's death and resurrection are what make His birth such a huge deal. Today, we who are Christians celebrate that we do not have to die for our sins, and on Sunday we celebrate the fact that we serve a RISEN Savior! We celebrate that we also can have new life and one day we will spend eternity in the presence of God.
Maybe I'm just rambling, I didn't really have a specific point I wanted to make. Actually, all I really wanted to say was, "Christ is RISEN!"
And that is the singularly most awesome thing in the world.
