"I don't suppose you could a-speed a-things up?"
What, my friends, is the quickest way to fall behind on blogging?
Tell the world when you plan to blog.
Wednesday morning came and went, and I just wasn't quite up for talking about heroes today. I mean, I love heroes, and that's part of the problem. My plan of a single blog post suddenly morphed into something far more vast and scary, and I didn't feel quite ready to tackle it, or even a piece of it just yet. Maybe Friday. We will see.
See what I did there? Let you know that I still plan to carry on my character building series, but made no promises as to when we'll get back to it. That makes me much more likely to get to it sooner rather than later.
My dad emailed me the other day. He's reading through Second Son for the second time, and just wanted to let me know he was enjoying it, noticing some of the changes I'd made, reminding me that Ky is his favorite character, and wondering if there's any way to speed up the process of getting Yorien's Hand and book 4 out the door.
Ensue my brain suddenly playing the Princess Bride conversation between Inigo and the Dread Pirate Roberts as the latter attempts to scale the cliff face sans rope, and Inigo waits impatiently for him to make it up to the top so they can duel to the death.
I'm not complaining. I needed the nudge. Rather desperately, actually. I have been having a really hard time getting into the editing of Yorien's Hand. It's not that I hate editing, I sometimes even find it to be rather fun, but it can be tedious, and it can get a little overwhelming when you haven't even looked at the book in several years and as you're going along you're starting to realize that certain segments really don't match up to everything that happens in the NEXT book, and there's a lot of re-writing that needs to be done... and some new writing, which is actually kind of exciting, but doesn't help with the overwhelming factor.
Anyway, so... yes, I do need to "speed a-things up."
And I also need some reviewers - and they're not all for me!
-I have FOUR copies of SECOND SON available for free to anyone willing to read it and write an honest review and post it on Amazon, Goodreads, your blog (if you have one) and anywhere else that strikes your fancy. The caveat is that these are second-run proof copies, and the title-text printed incorrectly on the cover, but the text inside the book is exactly as it would appear if you bought it.
-I also have FOUR copies of my sister's CD, WHISPERED STORIES, available for free to anyone willing to listen to it and write an honest review and post it to Amazon, your blog (if you have one) and wherever else you can post reviews of CDs... I'm not as well-versed in that world as I am in the realm of writing! (the CDs are not proof copies, they are exactly what you would get if you bought them - this offer is merely because I'm just a proud sister who thinks Brittany needs more reviews) :)
If you would like to take me up on either of those offers, please email me at: jenelle@jenelleschmidt.com with your name, mailing address (if you're not local), and which item you would like to review.
For everyone else... what are some ways you motivate yourselves to do things (like editing) that you're feeling unmotivated to do... even though it might even be something you really want to do, but for some reason just... don't do? Please let me know in a comment! (Or you can postulate on various other topics that this post might have brought to mind. I'm not picky. I just love comments!)
If you don't know where the quote is from, then either a) you didn't read the entire post, or b) you need to come over to my house immediately so that I can subject you (er... introduce you) to the vast entertainment that is my favorite movie of all time.
Oh, and before I forget, there is a Goodreads giveaway going on for a copy of SECOND SON as well!
