MEMORIAL DAY

Thank you to all of our soldiers, past, present, and future, for the sacrifices you have made so that I might sleep in peace and safety each night. May we never forget and never take for granted the courage and selflessness of our soldiers.

This is a set of song lyrics that I created for my singer/songwriter sister a few years ago. Thought it would be appropriate to share today.

Don’t Rob Us of Our Heroes 7/2/08Just take a look around you, do you think this all came cheap? It cost a lot in good men’s blood for us become free. Some say we shouldn’t have been there, out across the seaHelping men and women like us, how selfish should we be?ChorusDon’t rob us of our heroesDon’t tarnish their namesThey may not have flown like SupermanBut they are heroes just the same. They gave up all the comforts that you and I affordTo sacrifice, lay down their lives, heroes to the core.Don’t tell me they didn’t believe in what they’re fighting forHere back home it’s our job to lift them to the Lord.ChorusFreedom’s flag now waves aloft in far and distant landsPlaced there by some who gave their all with strong and steady handsRespect the love they freely gave, these brave men with their gunsBefore faulting them remember: they are our neighbor’s sons.BridgeBeloved of their familiesLifted up in prayerLet’s bow our heads and thank the LordFor our soldiers everywhere.
