QUESTIONS FOR FELLOW AUTHORS
I am currently in the midst of posting a series on the ins and outs and how-tos of getting published. I am doing this series because I was recently contacted by a young author who had lots of questions and indicated that he's had a hard time finding the answers to his questions or anyone who was willing to take the time to answer his questions.Well, that got me thinking about trying to do a series of blog posts detailing the process. However, I believe this series will be more helpful if it includes information from other authors' experiences (because each of us only has an experience limited to our own). I know that I cannot answer many of the questions about traditional publishing, and I certainly have not experienced every aspect of self-publishing there is.So, would you be willing to answer a few short questions? I may or may not include your actual answers on a blog post - I might just do a graph of some kind, I haven't exactly decided yet.Anyway, thank you in advance to any who participate.~JenelleQuestions:1. Are you traditionally published or self-published?2. What caused you to go the route you went with your book (trad. vs. self)?3. If you are traditionally published, approx. how many queries did you send out before you got an agent or publisher?4. If you are self-published, how did you go about finding editors/cover artists/web-designers (or did you do all that yourself)?5. What is your process to take your book from completed Rough Draft to Final Product?6. For self-published authors: who do you use to get your books printed?7. What do you perceive to be the biggest hurdle for an author who wants a traditional publisher to pick them up?8. What do you perceive to be the biggest hurdle in the self-publishing industry?Thank you for your time!
