ALL ABOUT ME
(Five Fun Facts you won’t learn from an author interview)
Maybe it’s copping out a bit, but I really couldn’t think of a topic that began with the letter “A,” how sad is that? I thought I’d begin this challenge with some random factoids about me that you wouldn’t learn in an author interview.
But first, just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to Arlee Bird for being the founder of this challenge! I have been looking forward to participating for months now and I am looking forward to seeing what the other bloggers come up with this month as well.
Alrighty, then.
A few totally random things about me:
- I am unclassifiable. On the Meyers-Briggs test, I almost always score about 80% on the introvert scale, because that part of me is, at least, pretty set. I'm an introvert... not completely, because I do enjoy being around people I know and love, so I often refer to myself as "an outgoing introvert." But then I score a 51% (because the test is rigged so you can never score a 50%) on all the other letters. So, I am an I ..... fill in whichever assortment of letters you wish, because it changes based on my mood.
- One of my crazy dreams that will probably never come true is to own a hundred or so acres in the north-west with a nice little house, a couple of horses, a few dogs, and some barn cats. If there was a lake nearby that I could go boating on, I wouldn’t turn it down.
- I unashamedly absolutely love country music. I grew up on John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, and Alabama. The newer stuff is fine, but it’s the older stuff I really enjoy: Kathy Mattea, Anne Murray, John Michael Montgomery, Michael Martin Murphy, Collin Raye, Marty Robbins, Garth Brooks... just to name a few... they’re the “greats” in my book.
- I love quotes. I collect them. I have pages and pages of my favorite quotes in one big document on my computer and I add to it whenever I see/hear a quote I really like.
- I separate my M&Ms and eat them by color. I don’t do it consciously. A friend noticed at a game-night we were at recently and dumped a bunch of her M&Ms on my plate (she believed I was being obsessive-compulsive and that this action would drive me nuts and wanted to see what I’d do, that’s the sort of friend she is). I was very confused, and asked her if she really didn’t want her M&Ms. She confessed what she was trying to do by messing up the little game I’d been unconsciously having on my plate. I told her it didn’t bother me in the slightest, and she asked, “Well then, why do you do it?” That made me stop and think... why, indeed? Best answer I could come up with... I was separating them by color, and eating my least favorite color first. Yes, I do know that M&Ms don’t vary in taste by color. I have no idea. Just a little insight into the world in my head.
Well, that’s just a peek into the crazy place that is my mind. Hope you enjoyed today’s post. Swing by tomorrow for a review of the Pixar film: “BRAVE”
