February is Fantasy Month
If you're like me, February is kind of a "skip-over" month. It's the middle of winter, and most people are starting to get itchy for Spring. There's no Christmas to look forward to. No big school breaks in the near future. Nothing to celebrate, really. The only thing anyone ever cares about in February seems to be Valentine's Day... but I've never been that big of a fan. Not that I bear the holiday any animosity, it's just not that big of a deal to me. Maybe it has to do with my ambivalence toward the color pink. Or the fact that while I love chocolate, the idea of a box of chocolates filled with random things that one may or may not enjoy has never thrilled me in the slightest, because I'm picky. Also, since we got married, Derek and I have discovered that Valentine's Day is just an excuse for 4-hour waiting times at restaurants, and really, who needs that in their lives? So, no offense to the holiday, but does it really need to consume the entire month? I think not.Which is why I propose we focus on something new and different in the month of February this year!Besides, I just realized something kind of fun. King's Warrior was released on February 29, 2012. Which means that while it has been out for 4 years, this is the year of its very first birthday... which means we need to celebrate! This month, here on the blog, all the posts will be about Fantasy-related themes and stories. I have a list of posts I am excited to share with you about why Fantasy is my favorite genre. Maybe you're not sold on fantasy. Maybe you think it's not applicable to everyday life. Perhaps you get bogged down trying to pronounce all those crazy names in your head. Maybe you prefer less-happy endings. Maybe you don't like magic. Well, my friends, this is the month where I explain why the Fantasy Genre is awesome! Also, I plan to share some reviews of fantasy books and movies that I love and have been wanting to review and haven't gotten around to writing yet.But that's not all! If you already love fantasy (or you don't, but there is that ONE fantasy book or movie you just want to hug to pieces) and you would like to participate, you are more than welcome to! No commitment, no pressure, but if you happen to want to write a review of a fantasy book or movie or write a post about why you love the genre... please leave me a comment on this post with the link to your post, because I'd love to read it! If you want to participate even more, feel free to grab the banner and incorporate it into your post and link your own post back here so that we can spread the fantasy cheer far and wide(And feel free to link multiple times/posts if you so desire!)
