The 777 Writing Challenge
I've been tagged by Savannah Jezowski in the 777 writing challenge! What is the 777 writing challenge, you ask? I'm so glad you did! You go to the 7th page of your current work-in-progress, scroll down to the seventh line, and share the next 7 lines in a blog post. Then you tag 7 other bloggers to do the same.Of course I have to share from Stone Curse, because it's the only thing I'm working on lately. It is an all-consuming black hole into which I am pouring all of my writing energy (poor, neglected little blog is so excited to have some attention today). My seven lines aren't quite as perfect as Savannah's, but they are sort of in the heart of the story, which is cool. And I'm cheating, because technically I'm sharing eight lines.Hope you enjoy:
He had lowered his terrible head to her hair and she had frozen in terror, knowing her death was near. But he had merely breathed in deeply the scent of the roses she had been wearing in her braids and become docile and submissive, following her back to the palace meekly.
Why did it work? What hold did the roses have over him? How were they connected to the curse? Karyna had pondered these questions for two years, and they sprang back to her now. A tendril of doubt worked its way into her thoughts as the prince crept towards her, his eyes flicking between the rose and her face. Had she been wrong?
And now I nominate Jack, Kendra, Abbey, DJ, Ashlee, Deborah, and Anne Elisabeth!
Make sure you go swing by Savannah's post to get a glimpse of her Five Enchanted Roses story: Wither. And Kaycee participated last week as well, with an excerpt from her Five Enchanted Roses project: Esprit de la Rose (and she shared a bonus excerpt from one of her other WIPs)!
