More Superhero Stories

I have exciting news!

Last year, H.L. Burke opened up her superhero universe for other authors to write stories in, and I had the great privilege of getting my story Play Date accepted into that anthology.

My story revolved around a mom named Emilia trying to fit into a new town and make new friends, all while navigating the ins and outs of being married to a superhero and having children with emerging superpowers.

It was a fun story to write. I enjoyed getting to spend some time in the modern world with my writing, while also staying solidly in fantasy territory.

So when Heidi opened up a second round of submissions, I jumped at the chance to write another story in this world. It’s a bit of a sequel to my first story, but follows Emilia’s brother-in-law.

A Fond Farewell

I don’t remember exactly when we started watching Top Gear. It was somewhere between 2008 and 2011, I know that much. I also know that our dear friends, Meg and Jason, were the ones who first brought it to our attention. When they asked us if we watched the show, my first thought was, “A show about cars? Boring!”

How does one really “rank” favorite reads? So many of these books were my all-time favorite as I was reading them. And that’s such a wonderful feeling. Like that moment when you realize you’ve just met a kindred spirit. Or when you quote a movie and someone replies with the next line from that same movie.

That’s what reading a new favorite book is.

And that’s what each of these books was like for me.

Most Mischievous Imp Winner

I stand back and admire the last few finishing touches on the cake I just finished decorating. Ahhh, perfect.

In real life, I’m not great at cake decorating, or any kind of visual art really. But here in the InterFictionVerse, I am brilliant at it. The imps are going to love it. And besides, who cares if they didn’t get the most votes when there’s amazing cake for everyone that is both delicious AND beautiful?

But if I don’t hurry I’m going to be late to my own hostessing gig
