A Newsy, Update-y Post About All the Writerly Things

Dear Reader, you are awesome, do you know that?

Seriously. I just want to thank you all for your patience with me. I know I’m not the fastest writer in the world (faaaaar from it!) And I know that I’ve had a tendency to disappear for months on end lately. This year has been really weird, because I’ve felt like I had very little to share about… and yet, so, so, SO much work is getting done behind the scenes.

Because you are so awesome, I wanted to give you a bit of a better glimpse of what all has been going on behind the page here in the Stormcave, where I’m at on this author adventure, and most importantly, when you will get to read a new Jenelle Leanne Schmidt book.

FallFicFrenzy + Know the Novel Part 2

November, my favorite month of the year!

I might be slightly biased, as this is my birthday month… but hey, as Ken Ham says, “Everybody is biased. It’s just a question of which is the best bias to be biased with anyway?”

So, I’ve been having a blast participating in Christine Smith’s Know the Novel and Fall Fic Frenzy over the past several weeks.

Frost: Winter's Lonely Guardian Release Day

Today is the day!

I’m so happy to be participating in the blog tour for Frost, by E.E. Rawls. This adorable, wintry YA adventure with a splash of romance has just released and it’s truly a beautiful story.

I got to read an early copy, and I just fell in love with Frost and Norah and Tim. (Tim! I want so badly to wrap him in a blanket and protect him)

There are a lot of fun elements in this story: seasonal fae guardians, selkies (the world needs more books with selkies in them, just sayin’), a magic harp, winter vibes, and lots more fantastical flurries of fun. (I seriously couldn’t help myself - alliteration calls to me). Featuring an MC who thinks he’s super tough and ice-cold, but is an actual cinnamon roll, and a leading lady who thinks she’s a cinnamon roll but is way tougher than she thinks. An internal struggle between giving in to bitterness and despair and doing the right thing. Redemption…. ahhhh, this is such a great story!

I got to beta read this one and it is so deliciously wintery and sweet and kind of tragic... and I just loved it. Everything E.E. Rawls writes has been a true pleasure to read, so you know I'm recommending this!

If you have seen and loved The Rise of the Guardians or Frozen, this story is sure to delight you.
